At the end of a long democratic confrontation, you have chosen to give me your confidence, and I wish to express my deep gratitude to you. It is a great honor, and it is a great responsibility. For nothing was written. I want to say thank you. Thank you from the heart.
My gratitude goes to all of you who have given me their support and support. I will not forget you. I will show all my care and energy to be worthy of your confidence.
But at this moment I wish to speak to you all, citizens of our country, whatever your choice. Many difficulties have weakened us for too long. I did not disregard any of the economic difficulties, the social fractures, the democratic impasse, nor the moral weakening of the country.
I want tonight to address a republican salute to my opponent, Madam Le Pen. I know the divisions of our nation that have led some to extreme votes. I respect them.
I know the anger, the anxiety, the doubts that a large part among you have also expressed. It is my responsibility to hear them, protecting the most fragile, organizing solidarity better, fighting against all forms of inequality or discrimination . Assuring your security in an implacable and resolute manner, guaranteeing the unity of the nation. For behind each of the words I have just spoken, I know that there are faces, women and men, children and families, entire lives. There are you, and yours.
This evening, I address to you all, the people of France. We have duties to our country, we are the heirs of a great history and the great humanist message addressed to the world. This story and this message must be transmitted first to our children, but more importantly, we must bring them to the future and give them a new sap.
I will defend France, its vital interests, its image, its message; I promise you to do so.
I will defend europe, the common destiny that the peoples of our continent have set for themselves. It is our civilization that is at stake, our way of life, to be free, to bear our values, our common undertakings and our hopes. I will work to re-establish the link between europe and the peoples who form it, between europe and the citizens.
I address in your name to the nations of the world the salvation of fraternal france. I told their leaders that France will be present and attentive to peace, the balance of powers, international cooperation, respect for development commitments and the fight against global warming. I say to all that France will be at the forefront of the fight against terrorism, on its soil as well as in international action. As long as this struggle lasts, we will lead it without weakening.
My dear fellow citizens, a new page of our long history opens tonight. I want it to be that of hope and confidence found again. The renewal of our public life will be imposed on all tomorrow. The moralization of our public life, the recognition of pluralism, democratic vitality will be the very basis of my action. I shall not allow myself to be stopped by any obstacle. I will act with determination and respect. Because through work, school and culture, we will build a better future.
Ladies and Gentalmans, my dear fellow-citizens, I want this evening to greet President Holland. He has worked for our country for five years.
During the five years that have opened, my responsibility will be to calm the fears, to make us renew our optimism, to regain the spirit of conquest that speaks better than all the French genius. My responsibility will be to bring together all women and men ready to face the gigantic challenges that lie ahead and to act. Some of these challenges are opportunities, such as the digital revolution, the ecological transition, the restart of europe. Others are threats, such as terrorism. I will fight with all my strength against the division that is undermining and defeating us. In this way, we will be able to give back to the French people, to each and every one of you, in his professional, personal and family life, the odds that France owes him.
Let's love the france.
As of this evening and for the next five years, I will, with humility, with devotion, with determination, serve France in your name.
